Description of the Questionnaire

The Self-Assessment and Awareness of Burnout Scale (SAAWB) consists of two sub-questionnaires. The first is the Maslach questionnaire, which aims to assess the level of professional burnout and includes 22 questions covering three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and lack of personal accomplishment. The second is the Ellis questionnaire, which assesses the level of self-esteem through 10 questions related to irrational beliefs, such as low self-confidence, pessimism, indecisiveness, and reduced self-assurance.

Data Analysis and Use

The questionnaire has been administered to a sample of 123 educational administration executives, such as principals and school counselors, as well as 240 teachers and 160 health care unit executives. The collected data are used to investigate the levels of professional burnout and self-esteem, as well as the relationship between these two parameters in the fields of education and health.

Purpose

The main purpose of the SAAWB is to reveal the way in which education and health professionals perceive themselves and their professional environment, as well as to identify the intensity and manifestations of professional burnout.

Scoring

The measurement of professional burnout, based on the Maslach questionnaire, is divided into three levels. Emotional exhaustion is assessed with nine questions, depersonalization with five questions, and reduced professional accomplishment with eight. Evaluation is performed using a seven-point Likert scale ranging from “never” to “every day.” The measurement of self-esteem through the Ellis questionnaire is also carried out using a seven-point Likert scale, ranging from “strongly disagree” to “strongly agree.” The questionnaire demonstrates high reliability, with Cronbach’s alpha exceeding 0.70.
