Purpose of the Questionnaire (Scale)
The TEPAD has been designed to assess professional decision-making processes in adults who are in a phase of career orientation or transition. It evaluates four key dimensions:
Risk Acceptance
Career Advancement
Need for Stability
Adaptability to Change
It is used by researchers, career counselors, and human resource professionals for guidance and employee assessment.
Analysis of the Questionnaire (Scale)
Authors: Bekiari & Michailidis (2021)
Number of Items: 35 Likert-type questions (1–5), organized into four subscales:
Stability vs. Change (8 items) – Assesses preference for security versus innovation.
Risk vs. Conventionality (9 items) – Examines openness to new or traditional career paths.
Career Satisfaction (10 items) – Evaluates alignment of decisions with personal values.
Decisiveness (8 items) – Measures comfort in making decisions under pressure.
Scoring of the Questionnaire
Each subscale is scored separately:
Range Stability/Decisiveness: 8–40
Range Risk: 9–45
Range Satisfaction: 10–50
Likert Scale:
1 = “Strongly Disagree,” 5 = “Strongly Agree”
Reverse Scoring is applied to selected items (e.g., the statement “I avoid risk” is reverse-scored in the Risk subscale).
Statistical Analysis
Total Scores: Higher values indicate stronger tendencies in the respective dimension.
Interpretation Examples:
Stability ≥ 32 → Strong preference for professional security
Risk ≥ 36 → High risk tolerance
Satisfaction ≥ 42 → Strong alignment with personal values
Decisiveness ≥ 34 → High decision-making ability under pressure
Validity of the Questionnaire (Scale)
Construct Validity: Factor analysis confirmed the four-dimensional structure (Bekiari & Michailidis, 2021).
Criterion Validity: Positive correlation (r = 0.68) with established career satisfaction scales.
Reliability of the Questionnaire (Scale)
Internal Consistency: Cronbach’s α = 0.84–0.89 across all subscales.
Test-Retest Reliability: r = 0.82 over a 6-month period, indicating measurement stability.
