Analysis
The Prosocial Tendencies Measure Revised (PTM-R) is a psychometric tool developed to assess various forms of prosocial behavior in adults and adolescents. The instrument consists of a set of statements to which participants respond based on how often or to what extent they engage in prosocial actions, such as helping, empathy, and altruistic behavior. The PTM-R was updated and revised from its original version to ensure greater reliability and validity in its measurements.
Purpose
The main purpose of the PTM-R is to provide an accurate and reliable method for measuring prosocial behavior across different contexts and populations. The instrument helps to understand how and why people engage in prosocial actions, what motivates them, and how these behaviors affect their interpersonal relationships and social interactions. This knowledge is particularly useful for the development of interventions and programs that promote social well-being and cooperation.
Calibration
Calibration of the PTM-R is carried out through a Likert scale, where participants rate each statement from 1 (never) to 5 (always), or from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree), depending on the format of the question. Responses are aggregated and analyzed to produce overall scores for different dimensions of prosocial behavior, such as altruistic helping, emotional support, and social conformity. These scores can then be compared across different groups or used to monitor changes in prosocial behavior over time.
