Analysis
The GSAA is a tool designed to assess gender stereotypes that emerge or are reinforced during adolescence. The questionnaire examines adolescents’ beliefs, perceptions, and attitudes regarding social roles and characteristics associated with gender. It focuses on understanding how adolescents perceive and internalize gender stereotypes originating from family, school, and the media.
Purpose
The main goals of the GSAA are to:
Assess gender stereotypes in adolescents: Measure the presence and intensity of gender stereotypes among adolescents.
Examine the impact of stereotypes on adolescent development: Investigate how gender stereotypes affect self-perception, career choices, relationships, and adolescent behavior.
Support educational and intervention strategies: Provide data that can be used to develop educational programs and interventions that promote gender equality and combat stereotypes.
Scoring
The scoring of the GSAA includes:
Categorization of responses: Participants (adolescents) answer questions related to gender stereotypes using agreement scales or other measurement methods.
Total score: A total score is calculated that reflects the intensity of gender stereotypes held by adolescents. Higher scores typically indicate stronger stereotypes.
Result analysis: The relationship between gender stereotypes and other variables, such as self-esteem, school performance, and social behavior, is examined.
