The New Metric Intelligence Scale was developed by Christos Paraskevopoulos and collaborators within the framework of the Laboratory of Psychological Measurements of the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

Purpose

The purpose of the scale is to measure the intelligence of school-aged children, mainly in educational and research contexts. The scale can also be used to identify learning difficulties, differences in learning speed, or variations in cognitive abilities.

Description

The New Metric Intelligence Scale is based on psychometric standards and includes various subtests that assess verbal and non-verbal cognitive skills. It is founded on a theoretical framework similar to that of the Wechsler scales but adapted to the Greek context. The structure of the scale includes the following areas: Perception, Logical-mathematical reasoning, Verbal fluency, and Memory. The scoring of the scale leads to the extraction of an Intelligence Quotient (IQ), with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15.
