Purpose and Objectives

The Career Gate Test K.17 Plus is designed to identify professional preferences and abilities, provide guidance during career phases such as initiation, transition, and development, and link personal characteristics with suitable occupational fields. Its main users are high school students, university students, and adults in career transition.

Structure and Content

The test includes 50 questions that assess four core dimensions:
Interests (e.g., technical, social, creative),
Abilities (e.g., analytical, communication, leadership),
Values (e.g., creativity, stability, social contribution),
Work environment preferences.
Responses are given on a 5-point Likert scale, where 1 = “Not interested” and 5 = “Very interested.”

Scoring and Analysis

Scoring is performed individually for each dimension, such as interests and abilities, while the overall profile emerges from the combination of scores, leading to career recommendations. The results include a ranking of occupational fields based on suitability as well as indicative career paths. Statistical analysis involves interpreting score values — for example, a high score in creativity indicates a preference for artistic professions.

Validity

Content validity has been verified by experts in career guidance, while criterion validity is based on correlations with successful career choices (r = 0.72).

Reliability

The reliability of the tool is reflected in its high internal consistency with Cronbach’s α > 0.87 and test–retest reliability of r = 0.89 over a six-month interval.
