Purpose

The purpose of the WFTC information system is to collect information regarding the structure and functioning of therapeutic programs aimed at addressing drug addiction.

Brief Description

The WFTC information system was developed to facilitate data exchange and networking among therapeutic programs dealing with addiction at an international level. Through this system, information is systematically recorded concerning the goals, services, methodological characteristics, administrative structure, and range of services provided by the participating therapeutic communities.

Validity

No specific statistical validity indices are reported; however, this is an information-based tool with international application. It has been used in WFTC conferences and studies, indicating satisfactory conceptual validity.

Reliability

The tool’s reliability is based on the consistency of data collection and recording from accredited therapeutic programs. Although indices such as Cronbach’s alpha are not provided, the tool demonstrates functional reliability through repeated use.

Data Analysis and Use

The system is used for recording and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data from therapeutic programs, aiming at comparative evaluation, the exchange of best practices, and the development of international standards for the effective treatment of addiction. The data are utilized for research, administrative, and policy-making purposes by agencies and organizations involved in addiction recovery.
