Analysis
SPPC-III is an adaptation of Susan Harter’s Self-Perception Profile for Children. It assesses ten self-perception scales in junior high school students through 55 items.
Students are asked to choose between two statements the one that best fits them, and then rate it on a scale from 1 to 4.
Purpose
SPPC-III is used to evaluate self-esteem in junior high school students. It includes ten psychometric scales and nine specific self-perception domains.
Sample
The questionnaire was standardized on a sample of 374 adolescents from 7th, 8th, and 9th grade (178 boys and 196 girls).
Validity and Reliability
Various types of validity were tested (e.g., construct, discriminant, concurrent). Factor analysis revealed ten factors, explaining 56.8% of the total variance.
The internal consistency reliability indices (Cronbach’s alpha) ranged from 0.72 to 0.84.
