Analysis

The test includes 9 psychometric subtests that assess phonological awareness, language skills, memory, and psychomotor abilities. Each subtest contains different activities that correspond to the general and specific abilities of children.

Purpose

The implementation of the PTDDB 6–8 (Phonological Test for the Detection of Dyslexia-Related Behavior) aims to identify preschool-aged children with signs of reading and writing difficulties, as well as other learning problems.

Sample

The sample was standardized on 411 children (200 boys and 211 girls), aged 6–8 years, from various schools in the Attica region. The standardization process was carried out through the administration of the test by specialized psychologists and educators.

Validity and Reliability

The test’s validity was examined through:
Statistical analysis of criterion validity.
Correlation with other psychometric tests.
The Pearson test-retest reliability indices were:
0.90 for 1st Grade.
0.88 for 2nd Grade.
