Questionnaire Analysis
The CTRFA-106 (Caregiver-Teacher Report Form for Ages 1½ – 5) was developed by T. Achenbach and is part of the Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA) for preschool children. This questionnaire is intended for caregivers, kindergarten teachers, and individuals who care for children in groups (with a minimum group size of 4). The questionnaire focuses on assessing certain typical “problematic” behaviors and skills of the child during their time in the school environment.
Goal of the Questionnaire
The primary goal of this questionnaire is to evaluate the emotional and cognitive adjustment of preschool-age children.
Scoring of Questions
The CTRFA-106 consists of two parts: Part One: Contains 6 questions to describe the type of school the child attends and the level of contact the caregiver or teacher has with the child. Part Two: Includes a set of 100 questions that describe behaviors. The questionnaire measures 7 scales:
o Emotionally reactive
o Anxious/depressed
o Somatic complaints
o Social withdrawal
o Sleep problems
o Attention problems
o Aggressive behavior
The questionnaire requires the respondent to answer 99 questions using a 3-point response scale:
• 0 (The statement does not fit at all)
• 1 (The statement fits somewhat or sometimes)
• 2 (The statement fits very much or very often)
Additionally, several questions ask the respondents to provide brief descriptions of existing problems.
Statistical Analysis
After completing the questionnaire, a total score is obtained by summing the responses.
Validity and Reliability
The CTRFA-106, due to its foundation in extensive research, has high validity in measuring the emotional adjustment of children. It should be noted that this questionnaire has been adapted into Greek, and its validity in the Greek population, through confirmatory factor analysis, has been shown to be particularly satisfactory.
Regarding reliability, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for all scales ranges from 0.62 to 0.94.
