Analysis
The Brief COPE questionnaire is an instrument used to assess individuals’ coping strategies in stressful situations. It consists of 28 items, grouped into 14 subscales, each representing a different coping strategy. Each item is rated on a 4-point Likert scale (1 = Never do it, 4 = Do it very often).
Objective
The aim of this questionnaire is to evaluate the coping strategies used by individuals when faced with stress-inducing situations. By recording and analyzing these strategies, the questionnaire helps in understanding individuals’ behaviors and reactions to stress, identifying both adaptive and maladaptive strategies. The information gathered can be used to develop and tailor therapeutic interventions by mental health professionals and also supports research programs examining the relationship between coping strategies and factors such as mental and physical health.
Scoring
The BCQ-28 consists of 28 questions, with the following response options:
1 = Not at all
2 = A little
3 = Moderate amount
4 = Very often
