Description of the Questionnaire

The questionnaire “Adolescence and Life Choices” is addressed to students of Secondary Education and aims to explore the mechanisms of adolescents’ transition from school to the labor market and adulthood, focusing on the formation of male and female identity. The tool consists of 31 sets of closed-ended questions categorized into four main thematic units: school, profession, family, and self. It also includes biographical data such as gender, age, school type, place of residence, academic performance, and other demographic characteristics. The questionnaire functions as a self-report tool and allows adolescents to express their perceptions and attitudes regarding the school environment, professional prospects, family relationships, and the formation of their personal identity.

Data Analysis and Use

The data collected through the questionnaire are analyzed using quantitative methods. A five-point Likert scale is used for each question, allowing for the measurement of the intensity of attitudes and perceptions. The analysis focuses on trends related to adolescents’ career aspirations, attitudes toward gender roles, and their perception of the relationship with their social and family environment. The tool enables comparisons between different groups (e.g., gender, school type, place of residence) and produces indicators that reflect thematic areas such as self-perception, relationships with parents, educational aspirations, and value-based perspectives.

Purpose

The purpose of the questionnaire is to shed light on how adolescents perceive and plan their transition from adolescence to adulthood, through the choices and values they form during their school and family life. The investigation focuses on how gender identity is constructed through social and institutional factors, and on understanding the differences between boys and girls in terms of career expectations, views on gender roles, and how these parameters relate to the broader social and cultural context.

Scoring

The scoring of the questionnaire is based on a five-point response scale, where participants indicate the degree to which they agree or disagree with each statement. This scale allows for the quantitative assessment of attitudes and opinions and enables statistical analysis aimed at identifying patterns, differences, and convergences in responses. In addition, it allows for the calculation of composite indicators for each thematic unit, such as indicators of professional aspirations, educational ambition, family identification, and self-perception, which can be utilized both for research and educational purposes.
