Analysis
The Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) was developed to assess anxiety levels in individuals. It was created by psychiatrist William W.K. Zung in the 1970s and is widely used for diagnosing and monitoring the severity of anxiety. This scale allows patients to self-assess their anxiety symptoms.
Purpose
The purpose of the Zung SAS is to provide a reliable and valid method for measuring anxiety, assisting clinicians in identifying the presence and severity of anxiety symptoms.
Scoring
It consists of 20 statements covering common symptoms of anxiety, including emotional, cognitive, and physical symptoms. Participants are asked to rate the frequency with which they experience these symptoms on a Likert scale from 1 (rarely) to 4 (almost always).
