Analysis

The National Violence Against Women Survey (NVAWS) was developed by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is used to document and analyze the experiences of violence that women in the United States endure. The survey examines various forms of violence, including physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, as well as stalking and harassment.

Objective

The objective of the NVAWS is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the extent and nature of violence against women, identify risk factors and consequences of the violence, and support the development of policies and programs aimed at preventing and addressing violence against women.

Scoring

Participants are asked to respond based on their experiences using a Likert scale or by answering yes/no depending on the question.
