Data Analysis and Use
The Sexual Function Scale (SFS) is a tool used to assess sexual functioning and sexual health. This scale provides a holistic picture of the different aspects of sexual functioning, including sexual desire, arousal, orgasmic function, and satisfaction with sexual activity.
The SFS examines:
Sexual Desire: The level of sexual desire and interest in sexual activity.
Arousal and Lubrication: The ability to achieve and maintain sexual arousal and, in women, natural lubrication.
Orgasmic Function: The ability to reach orgasm and the quality of the orgasmic experience.
Sexual Satisfaction: Overall satisfaction with sexual life and sexual activity.
Pain during sexual activity: Experience of pain or discomfort during or after sexual intercourse.
The analysis of SFS data involves measuring these parameters of sexual functioning and assessing the problems that may affect sexual health. The results can be used to understand the factors contributing to sexual dysfunctions and to develop therapeutic interventions.
Purpose
The aim of the SFS is to provide a comprehensive assessment of sexual functioning, helping in the understanding and treatment of problems related to sexual health. The scale is intended for diagnosing sexual dysfunctions and improving sexual satisfaction through targeted interventions.
Scoring
Scoring of the SFS is usually performed using a Likert scale. Participants rate their agreement with statements about their sexual functioning from 1 (very low or rare) to 5 (very high or frequent). The overall score is obtained from the sum or the average of the responses, with higher scores indicating better sexual functioning and satisfaction.
