Purpose of the Questionnaire
The CFIT was developed with the purpose of measuring general fluid intelligence (g-factor), minimizing the influence of cultural and social factors on cognitive assessment. It is a tool for non-verbal evaluation, suitable for individuals of different nationalities, socioeconomic backgrounds, or educational levels. Its culturally fair nature makes it particularly useful for comparing cognitive abilities across heterogeneous populations.
Questionnaire Analysis
The CFIT consists of a series of non-verbal tasks that assess logical thinking, analytical ability, and problem-solving through shapes, images, and patterns. Participants are asked to identify rules, predict sequences, or select the correct answer among alternatives, without requiring knowledge of any language or specific cultural content.
There are three main versions of the CFIT:
Scale 1: For children aged 4–8 years or individuals with special needs.
Scale 2: For children aged 8–13 years or adults with low educational background.
Scale 3: For adolescents over 14 years and adults with normal or higher education.
Norms
The Greek adaptation by Ison Psychometrica is based on standardized norms from Greek population samples, ensuring that the assessment accurately reflects the cognitive profile of examinees in Greece. It includes normative data by age and educational level.
Scoring Method
Scoring is based on the number of correct responses in each subtest. The total score is converted into an intelligence quotient (IQ) using conversion tables based on the norms. The process is automated when using the digital version, while a printed version with instructions for manual correction is also available.
Validity
The validity of the test is high and has been documented in numerous international and national studies. Both content and construct validity have been confirmed regarding its measurement of the g-factor without significant cultural bias.
Reliability
The reliability of the test demonstrates high indices of internal consistency and stability (test-retest). In Greek adaptation studies, Cronbach’s alpha ranges from 0.80 to 0.91, depending on the scale and population.
