Quality of Care: Satisfaction with the Provision of an Assistive Device (KVZTO-7)

Description

The Quality of Care: Satisfaction with the Provision of an Assistive Device (KVZTO-7) is a specialized patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) developed to evaluate users’ satisfaction with the quality of care associated with the provision of assistive devices. The questionnaire assesses patients’ experiences throughout the entire assistive device delivery process, from prescription and acquisition to training, support, and everyday use. It provides valuable information regarding the quality, efficiency, and patient-centeredness of assistive technology services.

The instrument focuses on users’ perceptions of both the service delivery process and the assistive device itself, enabling healthcare providers to identify strengths and areas requiring improvement in rehabilitation and assistive technology services.

The KVZTO-7 evaluates several important aspects of care, including:

  • Service Quality, including communication with healthcare professionals and efficiency of the provision process.
  • Device Quality, assessing the suitability and quality of the assistive device.
  • Usability and Comfort, evaluating how effectively and comfortably the device can be used in everyday life.
  • Training and Support, examining the adequacy of user education and ongoing professional support.
  • Overall Satisfaction, reflecting the patient’s general experience with the assistive device and the services received.

The questionnaire is widely applicable in rehabilitation medicine, occupational therapy, physical therapy, assistive technology services, healthcare quality assessment, geriatric care, and research evaluating patient satisfaction and quality improvement initiatives.

Data Analysis and Applications

Data collected using the KVZTO-7 are analyzed using psychometric and statistical methods to evaluate users’ satisfaction with assistive device provision and the quality of healthcare services.

Participants complete the questionnaire by rating different aspects of their experience with the assistive device and the healthcare services received. Responses are analyzed to identify strengths and weaknesses in service delivery and patient experience.

Psychometric evaluation of the KVZTO-7 typically includes:

  • Internal consistency, assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient.
  • Test–retest reliability, evaluating score stability over repeated administrations.
  • Content validity.
  • Construct validity, where applicable.
  • Convergent, discriminant, and criterion validity, established through comparisons with other instruments assessing healthcare quality, patient satisfaction, and assistive technology outcomes.

In research and clinical practice, KVZTO-7 data are commonly analyzed using:

  • Descriptive statistics, including means, standard deviations, frequencies, percentages, and response distributions.
  • Comparative analyses, such as independent-samples t-tests, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Chi-square tests, Mann–Whitney U tests, and Kruskal–Wallis tests, to compare satisfaction across patient groups or healthcare settings.
  • Correlation analyses, using Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients to investigate relationships between satisfaction, demographic characteristics, clinical variables, and functional outcomes.
  • Multivariate statistical techniques, including linear regression, logistic regression, mediation and moderation analyses, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to identify factors influencing satisfaction with assistive technology services and healthcare quality.

Purpose

The primary purpose of the KVZTO-7 is to evaluate the quality of care associated with the provision of assistive devices and to measure patient satisfaction throughout the service delivery process.

More specifically, the instrument is designed to:

  • evaluate patients’ experiences during assistive device provision;
  • identify strengths and weaknesses in healthcare service delivery;
  • assess satisfaction with the assistive device and related professional support;
  • support continuous quality improvement initiatives;
  • enhance patient-centered care;
  • facilitate research on healthcare quality and assistive technology services.

The information obtained through the KVZTO-7 assists healthcare organizations in optimizing clinical procedures, improving communication with patients, and enhancing the effectiveness of rehabilitation and assistive technology programs.

Scoring

The KVZTO-7 consists of seven questions assessing users’ experiences with the provision and use of assistive devices.

Responses are collected through a structured questionnaire completed by assistive device users and subsequently analyzed to evaluate:

  • service quality;
  • quality and suitability of the assistive device;
  • usability and comfort;
  • adequacy of training and professional support;
  • overall satisfaction with the provision process.

Unlike many psychometric scales, the KVZTO-7 does not generate a single standardized total score. Instead, responses are analyzed individually or by domain to identify specific aspects of healthcare quality requiring improvement.

Higher satisfaction ratings indicate better perceived quality of care, greater satisfaction with the assistive device, and a more positive overall healthcare experience, whereas lower ratings suggest areas where service delivery and patient support may require enhancement.
