Analysis

The Outness Inventory is designed to assess the degree to which an individual has disclosed their sexual identity or sexual orientation to others. It is commonly used to examine how openly or discreetly a person acknowledges and communicates their sexual identity to others, including friends, family, coworkers, or other social circles.

Objective

The primary aim of the Outness Inventory is to evaluate and measure the extent to which a person has chosen to publicly disclose their sexual identity or sexual orientation. This assessment helps to understand the social and emotional factors that influence an individual’s decision to be open or private about their sexual identity.

Scoring

Participants respond to questions using Likert-type or other rating scales that allow them to express the degree to which they are open or discreet about their identity. The total score helps in estimating the level of outness.
