Diataal: Diatekst and Diawoord is an assessment tool for evaluating language competencies and skills in the Dutch language. It is primarily used in the educational process to assess the level of comprehension and production of written language. Diataal consists of two parts: Diatekst and Diawoord.
Description
Diataal is a tool that evaluates language skills at different levels. Diatekst focuses on the comprehension and analysis of written texts. It assesses the student’s ability to understand, interpret, and analyze information from various texts. Diawoord concentrates on vocabulary knowledge and understanding. It measures the student’s ability to recognize and comprehend words and expressions in their correct context.
Analysis
The analysis of the Diataal results includes two areas. In text comprehension (Diatekst), students are asked to read various texts and answer questions related to understanding, interpretation, and analysis of the content. The analysis focuses on how well students understand the main message, details, and the relationships between ideas in the text. In vocabulary perception (Diawoord), students are asked to recognize and understand words and expressions, often through multiple-choice or fill-in-the-blank formats. The analysis examines the accuracy and range of the vocabulary that students possess.
Purpose
The main goals of Diataal are to assess language skills by providing a clear picture of students’ linguistic abilities in order to identify areas that require improvement, to support educational programs by integrating the results into the development and adaptation of learning plans that better meet student needs, and to monitor progress by tracking the development of students’ language skills over time to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methods.
Scoring
The scoring of Diataal includes adapted scores. Students’ answers are graded and compared with benchmarks set for each educational level. It uses leveled assessment to evaluate linguistic proficiency, which defines the level of comprehension and production of written language.
