Description

The Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy – General (FACT-G-27) is a self-report questionnaire designed to assess the quality of life of cancer patients. This tool covers various areas affected by the disease and its treatment, such as physical, social/family, emotional, and functional well-being. The FACT-G-27 consists of 27 questions and is adapted for use in patients with different types of cancer.

Analysis and Use of Data

The FACT-G-27 is widely used in clinical studies and practice to assess the quality of life of cancer patients. It provides important data regarding the impact of the disease and treatment on patients’ daily lives, helping healthcare professionals better understand patients’ needs and challenges.
Clinical Practice: The FACT-G-27 allows physicians to monitor patients’ quality of life during treatment, identifying areas that require intervention.
Research: It is used to evaluate the impact of new treatments on the quality of life of cancer patients, allowing comparisons between different therapeutic approaches.

Purpose

The purpose of the FACT-G-27 is to provide an objective measure of the quality of life of cancer patients, focusing on the key areas affected by the disease. The tool helps improve therapeutic care, as clinicians can tailor treatments according to patients’ needs.

Scoring

The FACT-G-27 uses a 5-point Likert scale for each question, where patients choose responses from “Not at all” to “Very much.” The final score is calculated by adding the individual scores of the four subscales (Physical Well-Being, Social/Family Well-Being, Emotional Well-Being, Functional Well-Being). Higher scores indicate a better quality of life.
