Description of the Scale

The Ethnocentric Image of Democracy Scale (EIDS-9) is a measurement tool designed to evaluate individuals’ perceptions of democracy from an ethnocentric perspective. This tool focuses on understanding how various ethnic groups perceive the concept of democracy and the factors influencing these perceptions. It includes 9 items that cover different dimensions of democracy, such as equality, participation, and recognition of rights.

Data Analysis and Usage

The scale is used in questionnaires completed by participants from various ethnic backgrounds.

Data is collected through electronic or paper-based questionnaires.

Data Analysis:

Statistical Analysis: Descriptive and comparative statistical tools are used to analyze the responses.

Convergent Analysis: The relationship between responses and different ethnic groups is examined to understand variations in democratic perception.

Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA): The validity of the tool for measuring dimensions of ethnocentric democratic image is assessed.

Data Usage:

Educational Purposes: The scale is used to educate individuals on democracy and ethnic differences.

Policy Analysis: Data can be used to formulate policies that promote inclusion and equality.

Social Research: It serves in studying perceptions of democracy in multicultural settings.

Scoring

Scoring for the EIDS-9 Scale is conducted as follows:

Response Collection:Each item on the scale is rated on a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree, 5 = Strongly Agree).

Score Calculation:The total score is computed by summing the ratings for all items.

Higher total scores indicate a stronger ethnocentric perception of democracy.

Score Interpretation:Scores are compared with benchmarks or categories defined in previous studies for interpreting results.

Relationships between scores and other variables (e.g., political attitudes, ethnic backgrounds) are examined.
