Analysis
The Tromsø Social Intelligence Scale (TSIS) was developed by Pallesen, Brunborg, and Nordahl-Hansen in 2011 and was used to measure the social intelligence of individuals in Tromsø, Norway.
Purpose
The purpose of the Tromsø Social Intelligence Scale is to assess individuals’ abilities in understanding and managing social situations and relationships. Social intelligence includes skills such as understanding the emotions and intentions of others, effective communication, and managing interpersonal relationships.
Scoring
Scoring is conducted on a five-point Likert scale, where higher scores indicate a higher level of social intelligence.
Validity and Reliability
The results of the initial study showed that Cronbach’s Alpha values for the subscales ranged from 0.70 to 0.85, indicating good internal consistency. The TSIS subscales were positively correlated with other measures of social and emotional intelligence, confirming the validity of the scale.
