Purpose of the Scale
The purpose of the [SCQ-36] scale is to assess the social parameters at the individual level that make up social capital.
Scale Analysis
The [SCQ-36] scale was developed by Onyx and Bullen in 2000 and consists of 36 items, which are divided into 8 subscales: local community, social action, feelings of trust and safety, neighborhood connections, family and friend connections, tolerance of diversity, value of life, and work connections. The questionnaire is designed for use with adults.
Scoring and Statistical Analysis
Scoring is carried out using a four-point Likert scale, ranging from 1 (never) to 4 (often). The final score can be obtained either by summing the responses for the entire scale or separately for each factor. Higher scores indicate greater social capital.
Validity and Reliability
The subscales demonstrated adequate reliability. The internal consistency index (Cronbach’s alpha) showed very good reliability with a value of 0.84.
