Analysis
The Neo-Sexism Scale (NS) is a psychometric tool designed to evaluate modern, more subtle forms of sexism that may exist in society. Neo-sexism refers to a form of prejudice that is not expressed openly but is manifested through the devaluation of gender equality, denial of inequalities, and opposition to policies and actions that promote gender equality.
Purpose
The aims of the scale are to:
Assess Neo-Sexist Attitudes: Measure indirect and contemporary forms of sexism that often appear as justifications for gender inequality.
Understand Social Norms: Analyze how social and cultural perceptions influence attitudes toward gender equality.
Support Educational Programs: Promote the development of educational initiatives that enhance awareness and gender equality.
Increase Social Awareness: Contribute to awareness of the impact of neo-sexism on social and professional relationships.
Scoring
The scale includes a series of statements that participants are asked to evaluate using a Likert scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). The statements concern contemporary attitudes and perceptions of gender, and the total scores reflect the level of neo-sexism.
