Questionnaire Analysis
In 2006, Petrides and Furnham developed the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire–Short Form (TEIQue-SF-30) to measure emotional intelligence. It is essentially the short version of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue), which was created by the same authors.
Purpose of the Questionnaire
The TEIQue-SF-30 was created to measure perceived emotional intelligence, as defined by the creators of the scale. To achieve this goal, the questionnaire includes four broad factor categories:
Wellbeing
Self-Control
Emotionality
Sociability
Question Scoring
The TEIQue-SF consists of 30 items related to perceived emotional intelligence. Participants are asked to indicate the degree to which they agree or disagree with each statement using a 7-point Likert scale, ranging from “Strongly Disagree” to “Strongly Agree.”
Statistical Analysis
The score obtained by each participant depends on their responses to the individual items in the questionnaire. Higher scores indicate higher levels of emotional intelligence.
Validity and Reliability
Although the short form of the TEIQue shows lower internal consistency compared to the full version, its validity and reliability remain at satisfactory levels. It is also widely used in research samples. The Greek translation of the scale was conducted by Petrides, Pita, and Kokkinaki.
