Analysis

Description and Objective

The Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) is a disease-specific instrument designed to assess health-related quality of life in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. It evaluates the impact of the condition on everyday functioning, well-being, social life, and psychological status.

Structure and Scoring

The PDQ-39 consists of 39 items covering eight major dimensions of quality of life. Responses across these domains are scored and combined to provide an overall picture of the impact of Parkinson’s disease on the individual’s daily life and functioning.

Applications

The PDQ-39 can be used in clinical practice and research to evaluate the burden of Parkinson’s disease, identify areas of impaired quality of life, monitor changes over time, and assess the effects of therapeutic or supportive interventions.
