Purpose of the Questionnaire
The purpose of the questionnaire is to collect information from individuals suffering from some type of headache in order to categorize it as tension-type headache, migraine, or mixed headache based on the criteria established by the International Headache Society (1998). The aim is for it to be used as a supporting tool in cases where a diagnosis from a specialized physician is not available.
Questionnaire Analysis
This specific questionnaire was developed by Göbel in 1994. Due to the nature of the questionnaire, it is not possible to establish norms. After a brief presentation of tension-type headache and migraine, the patient answers closed-ended questions, mainly in the form of “Yes” and “No,” which belong to two categories.
Question Scoring
There are a total of 26 questions, 13 for each category: migraine and tension-type headache. Based on the responses, the headache is classified into three categories: tension-type headache, migraine, or mixed headache.
Questionnaire Validity
Based on the questionnaire data collected so far, the results appear to largely align with the diagnosis provided by a specialized physician. However, data collection is still in progress.
Questionnaire Reliability
The reliability of the questionnaire has not yet been assessed and is currently under evaluation. However, in the corresponding Greek adaptation, its full validity is maintained along with the updated criteria from the International Headache Society (2001).
