Brief Description
The Epsilon Vocational Values Questionnaire is a self-report tool consisting of 150 statements. Respondents indicate their position on each statement using a seven-point scale. The statements are designed to explore ten different vocational values, such as security, creativity, recognition, and leadership. Each value corresponds to a separate subscale, which assesses a specific dimension of the individual’s professional motivations and preferences.
Purpose
The aim of the questionnaire is to measure specific vocational values of respondents, in order to identify their motivations, priorities, and expectations in the work environment. It can be used with both adolescents and adults for career guidance, career counseling, and personal development.
Scoring Method
Scoring involves recording the responses on a separate sheet and calculating either the mean score or the sum of the responses for each of the ten value scales. These scores are compared to normative averages for interpreting the intensity and significance of each value for the respondent.
Validity
The validity of the tool has been examined through pilot applications and improvements to the wording of statements, ensuring accurate reflection of the theoretical dimensions of vocational values. Content validity is strengthened by the clear definition and representation of the ten values in the subscales.
Reliability
The questionnaire has been tested with samples from different ages and social groups, showing high internal consistency within the subscales. Cronbach’s alpha values, according to available data, are satisfactory and indicate measurement stability.
Data Analysis and Use
Analysis includes presenting results for each value scale and comparing them with normative data or with the individual’s vocational profile. The data can be used for career orientation decision-making, developing individualized career plans, and understanding factors that influence vocational behavior.
