Questionnaire Description
The External Observer Anxiety Rating Scale [EOARS-35] is a tool designed to assess the manifestations of anxiety in an individual, as perceived by external observers. It consists of 35 items covering emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of anxiety. Each item aims to capture difficulties and problematic situations that arise due to anxiety.
Data Analysis and Use
The analysis of the EOARS-35 is based on a quantitative evaluation of individual responses. The items are organized into thematic categories related to different parameters of anxiety. The collected data allow for the identification of the intensity of anxiety manifestations, comparison between different observers’ evaluations, and monitoring of the individual’s progress over time or following interventions.
Objective
The aim of the tool is to provide an objective assessment of the intensity and nature of anxiety, as perceived by third-party observers. The tool is particularly useful in clinical assessments, research protocols, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions for anxiety reduction.
Scoring
Each item is rated on a five-point Likert scale: 0 = Not at all, 1 = A little, 2 = Moderately, 3 = Very much, 4 = Extremely. The total score resulting from the sum of responses reflects the level of anxiety. Higher scores indicate greater levels of anxiety. Inter-rater reliability is considered satisfactory, based on statistically significant correlations among the majority of evaluators.
