Analysis and Purpose of the Scale

The Behavioral Pediatrics Feeding Assessment Scale (BPFAS-35) is a psychometric test developed by Christ and Napier-Phillips in 2001. The scale is intended for parents and aims to study children’s behaviors related to their eating habits, as well as to interpret the potential reasons for poor dietary habits. This scale primarily assesses children between the ages of 9 months and 7 years regarding their meals throughout the day.

Scoring of Questions

Parents are asked to respond to a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire, ranging from 1 (never) to 5 (always), to indicate how often each behavior described in the questions occurs.

Statistical Analysis

There are 35 questions answered using the 5-point Likert scale. In addition to these questions, parents are asked to respond with “yes” or “no” to the question, “Is this a problem for you?” The questionnaire provides four overall scores based on the answers.

Validity and Reliability

The scale was translated into Greek by two independent native speakers. It was then reviewed for inconsistencies and retranslated, confirming the scale’s validity and reliability.
