Scale Analysis

The Perceived Parental Support Scale-LG (PPSS-LG) is a measurement tool designed to assess adolescents’ perceptions of the support they receive from their parents. The scale includes various elements related to emotional, practical, and psychological support, as well as communication and acceptance. The questions are formulated in a way that allows adolescents to express how often they experience specific forms of support from their parents.

Purpose of the Scale

The main purpose of the PPSS-LG is to provide a reliable and valid measurement of perceived parental support, which can be used for research and clinical applications. The scale aims to deepen understanding of the role parental support plays in adolescent development and how it affects various areas of their lives, such as academic performance, mental health, and social adjustment. Additionally, the scale can be used to identify areas where parents may need improvement in their supportive practices.

Scale Scoring

The scoring of the PPSS-LG is carried out through a process that involves analyzing adolescents’ responses to each item of the scale. Each response is rated on a Likert scale, typically from 1 (never) to 5 (always), with higher scores indicating greater perceived support. Total scores are calculated by summing the responses across all items, with higher overall scores reflecting greater perceived parental support. Analysts may also use statistical techniques, such as factor analysis, to examine the internal consistency and validity of the scale.
