Analysis

The Revised Sociosexual Orientation Inventory (RSOI) is a tool developed to measure an individual’s sociosexual orientation. Sociosexual orientation refers to a person’s attitudes and behaviors regarding their sexual activity and commitment in either long-term or short-term relationships.
The scale assesses three main dimensions:
Sexual Freedom: The individual’s willingness to engage in sexual relationships without commitments or long-term bonds.
Sexual Focus: The individual’s preference for sexual relationships that are not accompanied by emotional attachment.
Sexual Experience: The extent to which the individual has engaged in various sexual activities.
The RSOI questions are based on statements related to sexual preferences, perceptions of sexual behavior, and relationships.

Purpose

The main goal of the scale is to evaluate individuals’ inclinations and preferences regarding sexual behavior, whether it involves short-term or long-term relationships. The tool is used to better understand sexual behavior in social and psychological contexts, as well as to study the relationship between sexual behavior and personal characteristics.

Scoring

The RSOI is typically scored using a Likert scale, where participants rate their level of agreement with various statements about their sexual behavior and preferences. Responses are usually scored from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree). Overall scores are calculated by combining the results from the three core dimensions of the scale.
