Analysis

The Questionnaire on Young Children’s Sexual Learning (QOYCSL) is a psychometric tool designed to assess young children’s sexual knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes regarding sexuality. The scale examines aspects such as understanding of the body, relationships, and human development, as well as how this knowledge is shaped through the family, school, and social environment.

Purpose

The purpose of the scale is:
Assessment of Sexual Knowledge: To measure the level of knowledge and understanding that young children have regarding sexuality and relationships.
Understanding Learning Influences: To investigate the sources of information and the influence of family, school, and the social environment on children’s sexual learning.
Support for Educational Programs: To contribute to the development of educational programs that enhance age-appropriate sexuality education and promote children’s healthy development.
Promotion of Research in Child Development: To strengthen scientific research related to sexual learning and development in childhood.

Scoring

The scale includes various statements and questions answered by parents or children’s educators using a Likert scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). The statements cover different aspects of sexual learning, such as body knowledge, relationships, and social skills, and the total scores provide an estimate of children’s understanding and educational needs.
