Description
The Resilience Scale [RS-15] is a unidimensional self-report instrument consisting of 15 items designed to assess individual resilience. Responses are provided on a five-point Likert scale, and completion takes approximately five minutes. The scale may be administered individually or in group settings.
Purpose
The RS-15 aims to evaluate an individual’s ability to adapt to, cope with, and recover from difficult or stressful life circumstances.
Scoring
Each item is rated on a five-point Likert scale, from 1 = “strongly disagree” to 5 = “strongly agree.” Total scores range from 15 to 75, with higher scores indicating greater resilience.
Psychometric Properties
The Greek translation and standardization were conducted on a sample of 404 individuals from the general population. The scale demonstrated high internal consistency, with Cronbach’s α = 0.91.
Applications
The RS-15 can be used in both general and clinical populations to examine resilience and its associations with variables such as anxiety, depression, and quality of life.
