Scale Analysis
The Pluralism and Diversity Attitude Assessment Scale (PADAA-19) was developed in 1996 by Stanley and serves as a tool for evaluating attitudes toward cultural diversity and cultural pluralism.
Scale Objective
The main goal of this scale is to measure the extent to which respondents hold positive attitudes toward cultural pluralism and whether an individual feels comfortable or uncomfortable with diversity.
Item Scoring
The PADAA-19 consists of a total of 19 items, which are categorized into 4 subscales. These four subscales assess whether respondents value, appreciate, and apply cultural pluralism, and how uncomfortable they feel with cultural diversity. All items are rated on a 6-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (Strongly Disagree) to 6 (Strongly Agree).
Statistical Analysis
The range of scores in each subscale determines the underlying attitude of the participant toward cultural diversity and cultural pluralism.
Validity and Reliability
The internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha) ranged from 0.72 to 0.85 for the four factors, while for the total PADAA-19 it was α = 0.91. The reported test-retest reliability was α = 0.84.
