Analysis
The Patient Competency Rating Scale (PCRS) is designed to assess patients’ perceptions of their ability to manage their personal needs and make decisions regarding their health.
Objective
The primary goal of the PCRS is to evaluate the patient’s perception of their ability to participate in decision-making related to their care and self-management.
Scoring
The scale includes questions or statements about autonomy, understanding of their condition, and management of treatment, which the patient evaluates using a Likert scale or a similar system. The total score is derived from the ratings of these responses and reflects the patient’s perception of their competence in participating in and managing their health condition.
