Analysis

The SCOFF questionnaire is a five-question screening tool developed to serve as a simple, easy-to-remember instrument for identifying eating disorders. It was designed for use by both professionals and non-professionals and is suitable for primary healthcare settings. The SCOFF questions were developed through focus groups involving patients with eating disorders and field experts. The questions can be administered either orally or in written form.

Purpose

This questionnaire is a screening tool that can be used in the general population to identify individuals who may be at risk for or already experiencing an eating disorder.

Scoring

The SCOFF questionnaire (SQ-5) consists of 5 yes/no questions. Each “yes” response indicates a potential concern and contributes to the total score. A score of 2 or more “yes” answers typically suggests the need for further clinical evaluation.
