Purpose of the Questionnaire (Scale)
The WAIS-IVGr is the official Greek adaptation of the WAIS-IV and is used for the comprehensive assessment of intelligence and cognitive abilities in adults aged 16–90 years. It is intended for clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, and researchers for the diagnosis of cognitive deficits, neurological and psychiatric disorders, as well as for the evaluation of cognitive profiles in educational and professional contexts.
Questionnaire (Scale) Analysis
The test was developed by David Wechsler (2008) and adapted for the Greek population. It includes 15 subtests organized into 4 indices: the Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI), which assesses verbal reasoning and semantic knowledge; the Perceptual Reasoning Index (PRI), which measures spatial reasoning and visuomotor processing; the Working Memory Index (WMI), which evaluates short-term memory and cognitive flexibility; and the Processing Speed Index (PSI), which assesses the speed of cognitive processing.
Scoring of Questions
Raw scores are converted into standardized values (M = 100, SD = 15 for indices; M = 10, SD = 3 for subtests). The final score includes the Full Scale IQ (FSIQ), the 4 main indices (VCI, PRI, WMI, PSI), and individual scores for each subtest.
Statistical Analysis
The Greek adaptation has been standardized on a representative sample of Greek-speaking adults. Statistical indicators show internal consistency (α > 0.90 for FSIQ, α > 0.85 for indices), test-retest reliability (r = 0.85–0.92), and correlations with other intelligence tools (r = 0.75–0.90).
Validity of the Questionnaire (Scale)
The validity of the WAIS-IVGr has been confirmed through correlational studies with other intelligence tools, its discriminative ability between clinical groups, and comparisons with the international edition.
Reliability of the Questionnaire (Scale)
The tool demonstrates high reliability with internal consistency (α > 0.85), repeatability (r > 0.85), and inter-rater agreement (>95%).
