The Situation Temptation Scales – Alcohol Version (STSAV) is a psychometric instrument designed to assess the desire or temptation to consume alcohol in specific situations. It focuses on the relationship between situational, social, emotional, and environmental factors and alcohol-related temptation, recognizing that the urge to drink may vary considerably across different circumstances.

Purpose

The primary purpose of the STSAV is to identify situations that may increase the temptation to consume alcohol and to recognize factors associated with higher-risk drinking behavior. The instrument can also support the development of interventions aimed at helping individuals manage alcohol-related urges in challenging or high-risk situations.

Data Analysis

Statistical analysis may include reliability analysis using Cronbach’s alpha, factor analysis to examine the underlying dimensions of the scale, and correlation analyses with variables such as mental health indicators or social influences.

For psychometric evaluation, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and cross-validation across different populations may also be used to examine structural validity and the generalizability of the findings.
