Description
The Role Play Test (RPT-3) is designed to assess social functioning and social skills in individuals with psychiatric conditions who may present with social deficits.
The test was developed by Giannakou and Kosmidou. After the role-play procedure is explained, the participant is shown a recorded example and then completes three role-play situations, each lasting approximately three minutes. Two scenarios involve meeting new people, while the third focuses on asserting a personal right.
Purpose
The main purpose of the RPT-3 is to evaluate how effectively an individual functions in simulated everyday social interactions and to identify possible difficulties in communication and interpersonal behavior.
Scoring
Each scenario is scored separately, with a maximum of 12 points per scenario and a maximum total score of 36 points per examiner.
The assessment includes dimensions such as eye contact, spontaneous speech, appropriateness of content, emotional expression, and continuation of dialogue. These dimensions are rated on a five-point scale. For research purposes, evaluation by two independent examiners is recommended.
Validity and Reliability
Both the validity and reliability of the instrument are reported as being under development.
