Description
The Enneagram of Personality Scales are a set of psychological tools used for the assessment and understanding of the nine basic personality types described by the Enneagram. The Enneagram is a model that categorizes human personality into nine different types, each of which has unique characteristics, motivations, and behavior patterns.
Purpose
The primary purpose of the Enneagram of Personality Scales is to help individuals identify their dominant personality type, as well as the secondary influences of other types. Through this self-awareness, individuals can improve their interpersonal relationships, develop personal strategies for dealing with challenges, and achieve greater psychological and emotional balance.
Analysis
The Enneagram consists of nine basic personality types:
Type 1: The Reformer – Ethical, perfectionistic, self-disciplined.
Type 2: The Helper – Generous, caring, seeks to be loved.
Type 3: The Achiever – Ambitious, efficient, successful.
Type 4: The Individualist – Sensitive, expressive, dramatic.
Type 5: The Investigator – Observant, innovative, detached.
Type 6: The Loyalist – Reliable, responsible, anxious.
Type 7: The Enthusiast – Adventurous, spontaneous, optimistic.
Type 8: The Challenger – Self-reliant, assertive, dynamic.
Type 9: The Peacemaker – Peaceful, receptive, adaptable.
Each type is associated with specific desires and fears, and while individuals may show influences from multiple types, they generally lean toward one dominant type.
Scoring
The Enneagram of Personality Scales consist of questions that assess individuals’ preferences, behaviors, and motivations. Participants respond using a Likert scale, which allows for measuring the intensity or frequency of their answers. The responses are analyzed to determine the person’s dominant personality type and to evaluate the influences of the other types.
